The vintage zemmour rug is an authentic rug from the aït zemmour tribe of morocco. What characterizes this rug is the use of a different set of geometric patterns on a natural colored area, which uses only a few main colors. The end result is truly unique and beautiful. In addition, the quality of the weaving is undeniable because the rugs are made of high quality pure wool. The moroccan rug is a true work of art, which deserves its strong and great value because it represents the hard work, skills, dreams and stories of our berber fairies who weaved them. There are 10 different tribes in the zemmours. The name zemmours comes from the berber word “azemmur”, which means olive. Before settling in their current location in northwest morocco, they were originally nomadic or semi-nomadic tribes, moving across the low plateaus north and west of the middle atlas mountains, suitable for breeding and agriculture. There may be slight imperfections in shape or pattern as this is a vintage rug but all of our rugs are professionally restored and washed before shipping.
