Table lamp in elm burl and brass, Italy, 1970s.
The base is a rectangular block, veneered with elm burl on all four sides and encircled with polished brass reeds that rise in a single line from the base to the plate. The square lampshade is covered with an ecru fabric and edged with brass. Nothing is sculpted: the entire composition relies on the design of the edges and the contrast between the chaotic pattern of the burl, its knots and thorns, and the regularity of the metal. It is this contrast that defines the lamp. Original veneer and brass. The lampshade is the one that belongs to the lamp. Electrical installation checked, European plug. Italian work, 1970s. Very good condition.
