Gargoulette (a two-spouted jug with a central handle) from the J. Massier factory in Vallauris, stamped "J. MASSIER VALLAURIS" under the base. This stamp was used between 1930 and 1953, under the direction of Jean Clergue, heir to the Massier dynasty. A beautiful size for a gargoulette from Vallauris (26 cm). Hand-engraved decoration in geometric reserves: turtle, butterflies, snail, and foliage, enhanced with celadon green and turquoise glazes on a sandy gray background. Handle glazed in dark brown. A typical piece of Vallauris ceramics from the mid-20th century, equally decorative on its own or in composition with other period pieces.
