A pair of Louis XVI style candlesticks in silver-plated metal, adorned with laurel garlands, medallions, and openwork bases with floral decoration. The baluster shaft rests on a richly worked square base and is topped with a square platform designed to hold a cylindrical candle or a lantern. With their generous proportions and significant weight of approximately 1.688 kg each, these candlesticks demonstrate high-quality craftsmanship, likely in solid brass or silver-plated bronze. No hallmark or mark has been noted. French or European work from the mid-20th century, around 1940-1960. Dimensions: height 29 cm; base 12 X 12 cm. The upper platform is suitable for candles with a maximum diameter of about 6 cm. Patina from use with wear to the silver plating, more pronounced on the plate of one of the candlesticks where the metal is clearly visible. Other losses and abrasions are visible on the plates, edges, and some reliefs. The set is sound, stable, and has a beautiful decorative presence.
