Two very old Creil-Montereau plates (around 1840)

I am selling these two pretty plates produced by the fine earthenware factory in creil-montereau (oise). They display a delicate floral and plant decoration printed by transfer under the glaze. The pink plate features cartouches with architectural and landscape motifs on a pink vermiculated background. The green one, very slightly smaller, has a vegetable border decorated with roses or pink peonies; in its center, a planter decorated with flowers against a garden backdrop where a tempietto stands. On the back, both have a stamp indicating “opaque porcelain / creil and montereau / gold medals 1834 and 1839 / leboeuf milliet & cie”. Given the history of this manufacture, it is possible to date the plates between 1841 and 1876, and, more precisely, probably around 1840-50. Even though it says “opaque porcelain” on them, make no mistake, these venerable ladies are made of earthenware. Earthenware yes, but fine earthenware! That is to say halfway between traditional earthenware and porcelain. These two beautiful pieces certainly have the charm of the old. Very good condition: the decor is in perfect condition, the plates must not have been used because there are no traces of cutlery or scratches. The pink plate is remarkably preserved from the passage of time. A few small chips to note on the edges.
