Wall mirror with bevelled edge and a slim turquoise lacquered wood frame. Scandinavian production, 1960s. Scandinavian wall mirror from the 1960s, characterised by an understated design in which the profile of the glass and the slim wood frame work together in perfect balance, creating a composition of remarkable visual lightness. The mirror features an elegant shaped profile with rounded upper corners and is enclosed within a slim turquoise lacquered wood frame. The wood profile wraps around the edge of the mirror while leaving only a narrow portion visible from the front. The frame is therefore present, yet deliberately reduced to a minimum, allowing the glass to appear almost suspended on the wall while the reflective surface remains the true focal point of the design. The edge of the mirror is finished with a subtle bevel, created by carefully grinding the perimeter of the glass to form a delicate faceted edge. As light catches the surface, this finish creates a fine luminous border that emphasises the mirror's shaped profile. The slender frame follows the contours of the glass with remarkable precision, accompanying its curves and reinforcing the clean, refined appearance of the piece. The result perfectly reflects the formal research of Scandinavian design in the 1960s, where reducing visual clutter and highlighting the quality of materials were central to the design approach. The reverse is finished with a shaped wooden support and backing panel, demonstrating the same attention to construction and detail devoted to the unseen parts of the piece. Good condition. It may show signs of age. Please pay close attention to the photographs. AF582.
