Parisian wardrobe with hand-painted floral decor

Beautiful assets: an art deco lock and original handles, grooves on the sides, a plant engraving on the pediment and is entirely in solid wood. It has the marks of its time, namely marks on the shelves (see photos), small holes, scratches, splits in the wood... It is made of raw wood (not varnished or waxed), a light wood appeared with beautiful veining. The patterns are varnished. It has a large drawer, removable shelves, and a small children's wardrobe bar. I wanted to enhance this piece of furniture by painting patterns by hand. For this cabinet with sober and clean lines, I wanted a very “graphic” creation, like the indian ink drawings, black on a white background. The idea of a monochrome pattern was therefore obvious, in this case black. I used a natural pigment called “rome black”. I created a casein painting myself (lime, casein, water, pigments and essential oil) with earths and ochres. Casein paint dries slowly, fits well into the wood fibers and lets the surface breathe. It has a small wardrobe bar for children (be careful, standard hangers do not fit, possibility of removing the bar if necessary). Ideal in a children's bedroom or living room. Please note: all furniture retains small scars from time. Despite all the care taken, small defects and imperfections are inherent to the use or artisanal restoration of furniture.
