Primitive wedding wardrobe decorated/painted from Germany, specifically Franconia. The wardrobe has a very rustic appearance and shows a lot of character. It is painted with various patterns mainly in beige colours. The decorative mouldings are painted in blue-grey. Notably, the right side is painted in a slightly different colour, although it still appears to be period paint. The interior has two shelves and hooks for coats, which is the original layout, but additional shelves can be easily added if desired. The lock is no longer present, but the doors can be securely closed with a hook. In the past, it was customary to gift wedding furniture like this to couples. These pieces were then placed in a display room at the farm, which was rarely used for important guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. The wardrobe is dismountable (two parts). The dating is around the year 1800.
