Description
"carpet of turkmen yomoud, 164 cm X 227 cm, wool on wool, early 20th century" Carpet of the turkmen tribe of yomouds in wool, decorated with a large motif called hadchlou (cross), double. The velvet of these carpets is shaved and composed of a beautiful wool. The main motif of the hadchlou is composed of a large cross that divides the inner field into almost four equal parts. The small motifs that decorate the rest of the background, vary according to the tribes of origin, the most interesting being the one we meet on our model, specific to the yomouds and reminiscent of a stylized butterfly, this repeated pattern covers the whole field. The colors used on hatchlous are typical, all shades of red, midnight blue and black and sometimes white. Our model is in very good condition and may be native to turkmenistan or uzbekistan, territories occupied by these tribes. The round task is the camera lens and under no circumstances on the carpet. This carpet has been professionally cleaned in an environmentally friendly manner. Dimensions: width: 164 cm (5'4'' ) X length: 227 cm (7'5'' ).
