The engraving is taken from Charles d’Orbigny’s Dictionnaire d’histoire naturelle (Dictionary of Natural History), a 19th-century scientific work containing plates and detailed descriptions of the animal and plant kingdoms. Combining scientific rigor and artistic quality, each engraving accurately illustrates natural diversity, making this dictionary an educational and decorative document, ideal for framing and collecting. The Eurasian Flycatcher is subduedly colored, with brown and gray hues that make it inconspicuous.
