Antique “Narcissus” dish – Onnaing earthenware factory (circa 1900)

Found during a morning rummage, this fine earthenware dish tells us about the elegance of the north of yesteryear. Made by the famous onnaing earthenware factory around 1900, it bears the poetic name "narcissus, " like a floral ode to the beautiful season. Its deep green, english green decoration on a patinated ivory background printed in slight underglaze relief, mixes stylized bouquets and neo-renaissance arabesques, typical of the belle époque style. Heavier than classic ironstone dishes, it imposes itself with its solid presence and old-fashioned charm. The network of fine cracks in the glaze testifies to its age with nobility, without detracting from its decorative use. Display it in a country kitchen, hang it on the wall, or use it as a candle tray on a raw wood sideboard. A piece of history in keeping with the times.
