Period: ca. Early 20th century. This beautiful oval silver dish stands on four small feet of volute. What really stands out on this dish in terms of quality are the two handles; they have an openwork design that represent the neoclassical louis XVI motifs of the torch and quiver with laurel branches and a ribbon. The attention to detail continues all along the edge with a roman lictor's beam frieze. The work is remarkable and it cannot have been done by a good goldsmith. Surprisingly, I couldn't find any hallmark or mark (perhaps it was erased), but it looks a lot like christofle pieces for their ribbon series created in 1907; the louis XVI style and in particular the frieze of lictor beam are typical. Status: very good. No damage. Some micro brands of use. Size: See photo.
