Screenprint in 35 copies, Black and golden, Gallery certificate, Born in 1988, originally from Mauritius, Modely Thibaud lives and works in Paris and Cannes. In the third grade, when she saw her drawings, a teacher had told her in front of the whole class: "You will be a painter." Since his childhood, he has shown obvious gifts for drawing. His grandfather had noticed them. By offering him a box of oil colors, an easel and his first canvases, he caused an essential click. Modely got acquainted with painting, he immediately loved its smell, explored its possibilities. After the discovery phase, however, he returned to his childhood dream: to become a footballer. For many years, the paint box remained in a closet. Yet, when he was 16, Julian Schnabel's film Basquiat was a second click. Modely went back to watercolor and then oil. He took an intense pleasure and let himself go to create, according to his desires. At 17, he sold his first paintings. At a public sale, Nicolas Debussy, an auctioneer from Cannes who believed in his talent, proposed two of his paintings. They immediately found a buyer. First strong emotion, first intense satisfaction for Modely: his paintings were able to seduce strangers. He was also much supported by a friend's parents, who have been collecting his paintings since his early days. Two years after the sale, his first exhibition, organized at the School of Fine Arts in Cannes, worked very well: the twenty paintings presented were all sold, a totally unexpected success for Modely. He realized that maybe one day he could make a living from his painting. Since then, Modely has studied law to become a tax specialist, first in Cannes and then in Paris, but he has never stopped painting.
