Armchair with high back called dutch style neo-louis XIII (close louis XIV style) Southern netherlands. Walnut armchair with high straight back trimmed with a tapestry to the point. The curved feet in the shape of s-scrolls are decorated with a relief carved with flowers and leaves. The four legs are connected by a curved, x-shaped spacer, with a rosette with leaf and flower patterns in the center. The armrests with flowing lines have an auricular movement and are connected at the back by an arch decorated with foliage, at the front they rest on volute-shaped uprights decorated with acanthus leaves, flowers and carved buds. The backrest is high and slightly tilted back, the seat is wide is deep. The tapestry to the point, in excellent condition, made of wool has been restored in places - one can observe very slight shades of color in the floral background. It is enhanced with silk threads, especially for the central character whose execution is very delicate. It depicts on the file a blond female character, wearing a blue adornment and a rich dress, evolving a bird placed on the hand, in a flowery setting (clematis, roses, palms...) and standing out in the distance on a mountainous landscape. The seat features a peacock and a heron. These two paintings are framed by a rich decoration of acanthus. The back, restored, is covered with a thick cream velvet. Detailed dimensions: Height 119cm. Width 66.5. Depth 54cm. Arm length 68cm. Back only 68cm. Seat height at 52cm.
