Silver-plated teapot. Caillard & Bayard – Paris (founded in 1848, active until 1934) Superb antique silver-plated teapot, made by the prestigious silversmith Caillard & Bayard, founded in Paris in 1848 by Noël Caillard and Pierre Bayard. The workshop produced high-quality silverware until its closure in 1934. This teapot is distinguished by its elegant baluster shape, its twisted decoration (rotating gadrooned motifs), its sculpted lid knob, and its richly decorated handle featuring a cicada and insulating rings. The underside bears the original markings: • CAILLARD BAYARD • Model number: 58240. • Square maker's mark with monogram. • Numbers “24” (workshop number or silver plating code) • Weight: 719 g. Condition: Good overall condition for a piece of this period. Two small, discreet silver chips are shown in the photos (normal wear to the silver plating). No dents. Hinge in perfect condition. Clean interior.
