Kähler Keramik pottery company, founded by his great-grandfather in 1839. With new designs and distribution models, Nils expanded Kähler's influence and popularity worldwide. Nils Kähler had a particular talent for following the design trends of the time, which is evident in his production. Although he was very enthusiastic about complex traditional pottery, the new production was characterised by much simpler patterns. He created design objects such as ashtrays, vases, carafes, and lamp bases. Made of stoneware, these bases were fired in his workshop. The colours of the salt glaze are favoured, as well as turquoise or warm golden hues, combined with raw surfaces or embossed patterns. The family business came to an end with the fourth generation of the Kähler family in 1974.
