Vintage afghan rug. The turkoman people of afghanistan, particularly the ersari tribe, have been weaving turkmen rugs for centuries. Rich dark reds with various designs among them, the very famous bokhara or the elephant foot is the characteristic of such classical rugs. In recent years mainly in the north of afghanistan bordering turkmenistan, they have been reviving their old designs by making rugs called khal mohammadi or ersari designs. This rug has a full pile with no damage, there is a discolouration on the reverse side of the rug but it does not show from the front. It is washed and fully dusted for you to enjoy from the moment you receive it.
