Large Danish table lamp made of stoneware from the mid-20th century, 1960s-70s. The lower part is decorated with a printed pattern, glazed in dark and light blue with ochre/grey accents. The upper part is unglazed and features the natural dark brown colour of the clay. Model no. 3048, made by Søholm Stentøj (Soholm pottery) on the island of Bornholm, Denmark. Design by Einar Johansen. Søholm Stentøj, meaning Soholm stoneware, was founded in 1835 by Herman Sonne Wolffsen and Edvard Sonne. The name Søholm comes from the factory where the two founders worked, a pottery near Copenhagen, from 1828-1839. It was the oldest factory on Bornholm, a Danish island located off the southern coast of Sweden, until its closure in 1996. In the mid-20th century, Søholm produced a wide range of stoneware with various patterns and shapes. Several designers worked for Søholm Stentøj, including Einar Johansen, Maria Philippi, and Noomi Backhausen. Original red-orange lampshade.
