Pair of very large torchères – Terracotta and gilded wood – Renaissance decor – H. 178 cm (6 available) Imposing pair of torchères of very large size, combining sculpted terracotta and gilded wood elements. Each shaft rests on a quadrangular base adorned, at the front, with fantastical relief masks, in the style of the Italian Renaissance. The richly worked decor evokes Mannerist ornamentation, with cartouches, scrolls, and chimerical figures. The upper part consists of a bouquet with five arms of light per torchère, in gilded metal, with elegantly curved arms and stylised candle holders.
