Pair of five-light gilded bronze candelabras, Napoleon III, 19th century.

I bought them near Lyon to decorate my interior. I am parting with them today on the occasion of my return to Japan. This is a matching pair of five-light candelabra in gilded bronze. The pair has been examined by two professionals in the art market, whose value estimates overlap. It has notably been identified as a pair of gilded bronze candelabra from the Napoleonic III period, from the 19th century. Each piece features a very sculptural composition: five lights supported by flowing branches, foliage, scrolls, plant motifs, ornate drip pans, an architecturally designed central shaft, and a richly decorated quadrangular base resting on four elaborately crafted feet. The gilded bronze retains a beautiful antique patina. The darker shades present in the recesses naturally highlight the relief and richness of the decoration and fully contribute to the character of the pair. With a height of nearly 50 cm and a significant visual presence, these candelabra can be placed on a console, a fireplace, a sideboard, or a large table. They can integrate into a classic interior or create a strong contrast in contemporary or minimalist decor. Approximate dimensions per candelabrum: Height: 48.5 cm Maximum width: about 17 cm Maximum depth: about 16 cm Weight: approximately 2.4 kg and 2.6 kg, making about 5 kg for the pair. The two candelabra feature the same decoration and constitute a matching pair. Overall good condition considering their age. There is a presence of patina, slight oxidation, and signs of use consistent with their age. Some fine decorative elements show very slight deformations visible in the photographs. No visible hallmark, signature, or manufacturer marking has been identified. No intensive polishing or abrasive cleaning has been carried out to preserve the antique patina. The photographs show in detail the different faces, the ornaments, the undersides, as well as the dimensions and are an integral part of the description. Sold only as a pair.
