Kilim rug made by the Gashgai tribes. Completely handmade. Dimensions 1.57 X 2.77 metres - Quality: wool/wool. Double-sided - Origin: Iran. Era: Mid 20th century - Condition: vintage, generally good condition, no wear. The Gashghai or Qashqai are nomadic tribes that primarily live in the Fars province, particularly in the city of Shiraz in the southwest of Iran. "Kilim" is a Turkish word referring to the flat weaving technique (or tapestry). This rug-making technique is different from the knotted pile technique (velvet appearance), resulting in a softer and lighter finish. Just as durable as knotted pile rugs, Kilims are full-fledged rugs, made to be placed on the floor, not just on walls. Contact me for more information - My site on Google Tapis Sardje.
