Poster Cassandra - LMS Bestway (lithograph)

Second edition for this poster made by cassandre in 1928. Poster printed in 1985 in lithography at the request of cassandra's beneficiaries. Format: 92 X 114 cm. Very nice lithography. Good condition (small folds without gravity at the corners). Cassandre, the undisputed leader of french poster artists in the interwar period, remains today the best known and recognized graphic artist of this period: collectors are tearing up his original posters at a price of gold. The hundred or so posters he produced between 1925 and 1935 have a strength and impact that mark the difference with those of even the most talented competitors. As the american paul rand wrote, "there can only be one cassandra per century, " and blaise cendrars hailed cassandra as "the director of the street.".
