The beach is at low tide, the woman's gaze is distant and dreamy. Her clothes are from the period, and she is wearing wooden clogs. She is carrying two wicker baskets filled with fish, she is most likely returning from the fish market. The painting is signed lower right "r.marais", circa 1900. The frame is made of solid wood.
