Large art deco vase in amethyst glass from luxval - val saint lambert

Period: ca. 1935 this pretty amethyst colored vase is in the art deco style. The main body is shaped like a medici urn and has eight facets. The upper edge is decorated with a simple geometric frieze. The vase rests on an octagonal foot. It is signed at the bottom inside (difficult to photograph). The vase is from the luxval series by val saint lambert and is known as the dick model (it is presented in the 1935 luxval catalog). The model exists in several colors. This vase is large and heavy. The luxval series was created by val saint lambert (a renowned belgian crystal maker) after the economic crash of the 1930s in order to offer a more economical range of products than their traditional cut crystal pieces. Luxval items were generally pressed glass/semi-crystal and in the art deco style. Condition: good. No damage. Bubble inclusions in glass are typical in older pressed-cast ware. Dimensions: 25.3 cm in height, 14.3 cm in edge diameter, 2.2 kg.
