Buffet Mado

We offer a mado buffet, as there is rarely one: it is massive. The buffet, centerpiece of our grandparents' kitchens, is here in 3 floors. The finish is remarkable since the rather "pantry" part is even pierced at the back of holes for ventilation, protected orifices of a small wire mesh that keeps the food away from pests at the time rather frequent. With classic doors, especially at the bottom, but also two small upper windows, with their period glass, the upper part surmounts a larger space with vertical opening, our buffet model offers an original design that brings real added value to a vintage decoration. This type of buffet called "de mado" (maison dominique in reality) is a privileged witness of the 50s which today finds a special place in our interior decorations. Traditionally made of pine (here the wood seems heavier), centerpiece of the barbès galleries, its hour of glory preceded that of formica buffets. If we put ourselves in the context of these post-war years, the purchase of this kitchen furniture meant, in addition to the first credit, very often the commitment of a couple who built there, their nest, and more broadly their family life. It is also sometimes called "wedding furniture". It alone breathes the perfume of the mid-twentieth century. But when most are of a lightness that is not a guarantee of durability, this one is robust and its condition testifies that the designer wanted it... Sustainable, even if this term at the time had no ecological connotations. We left it in "its juice", but, here, it is mainly because it is preserved with care. It certainly needs a little rejuvenation (in painting), but it is already a beautiful product. This is how an exception becomes accessible. What's more, it's a luxury model!
