Art nouveau/art deco table planter in brass

Period: ca. 1900-1930. A superb table planter. The gondola-shaped cup has two handles that extend upwards and have the geometric interaction of curves and straight lines which typifies the jugendstil (german art nouveau). The scalloped edges are decorated with a frieze of floral motifs; these are quite stylized pointing to an art deco influence. This is probably a transitional piece. The cup rests on a round foot. Status: good. No damage. It is an old article and may therefore have marks of use corresponding to its age. Dimensions: 32 cm long, 15.5 cm wide, 13.5 cm high on the wrist, 1.4 kg.
