The neerpede reed reserve is a well-known spot for brussels naturalists who have been coming here for years to observe many species of birds. Most of the reed is located in the plots north of the reserve, along a walking path, on land belonging to the cpas of the city of brussels. The creation of the reserve itself, of some 60 ares, is the result of a collaboration between the municipality of anderlecht, brussels environment and natagora. There are several areas of great biological interest in neerpede, of which this new reserve is part. The land, owned by the municipality of anderlecht, is no longer maintained and the clearing site is heavy. In 2018, subsidies from brussels environment have enabled its restoration. Natagora has been entrusted with management and the reserve has now been approved since the beginning of the year.
