Framed oil on canvas by the swiss artist w. Dauer who shows here in the 1920s a washerwoman at work, clogs on her feet, a white apron tied at the waist, the kerchief on her head and her hands immersed in the wooden tub. The handwritten note on the reverse of the painting indicates that the scene is located in val d'illiez, a village in the canton of valais in switzerland.
