Description
Rare jewelry box by mithé espelt, ceramist artist, around 1960. Enamelled and gilded ceramic lid, decorated with two birds joined together by a heart. Painted wooden box (stains on one side), reverse and interior covered with felt. Unsigned. Mithé espelt (1923-2020) is a french ceramist artist of prime importance who bequeathed us a remarkable set of jewels, small mirrors and secret boxes. Very young, while the notoriety of success reaches out to her, she chooses the shadow and decides not to sign her creations. From the beginning of the 50s, mithé develops in her studio in lunel, between camargue and provence, an artistic project of remarkable relevance that she will pursue tirelessly for 40 years. Her production is devoted to a universe of exclusively feminine objects (mirrors, boxes, jewelry box...) that she works with ceramics in bright and colorful colors, raised by a touch of gold.
