Boulle vase in cracked stoneware by GBG, Gisèle Buthod-Garçon 1984 Height 8 cm Diameter 8 cm Weight 270 grams signed below Piece fired in a wood-fired kiln from 1983 /1984 In very good condition This vase has been authenticated by Gisèle Buthod-Garçon. Gisèle Buthod Garçon -GBG- is a French sculptor and ceramist based near the pottery village of Saint Quentin, La Poterie. She expresses herself in ceramic works through her mastery of the firing method known as "American raku" invented by Paul Soldner. GBG works this contemporary raku by treating the piece as a sculpture in its own right by mixing warm or cold tones with matte, shiny or pearly glazes to obtain a poetic complexity. The volumes she gives to her pieces offer deceptively simple shapes that fascinate the eye. His works are exhibited in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Korea.
