Frédéric Japy (1749-1812) founded the first watch mechanism factory in France in 1777 in Beaucourt. From 1850 to 1858, its production was signed like this example: “Japy Frères – Gold Medal”. She won several gold medals and medals of honor, both in exhibitions in Paris and other European cities.
