An original Swedish table lamp from the 1960s, crafted from ceramic by Klase Höganäs. The base has a simple form firmly rooted in the aesthetics of Scandinavian modernism—a compact, cylindrical body transitions into a slender, slightly curved neck topped with a lampshade holder. The base is coated with a matte, deep blue glaze with violet-navy undertones. Its understated form is accented by a decorative detail in the form of a regular, fine relief running around the base, just below the narrowing section. This subtle decoration beautifully illustrates the character of Klase Höganäs ceramics, which combine simplicity of form with handcrafted surface detailing. The design is complemented by an original or stylishly matched pleated lampshade in a cool, muted shade of purple. The regular pleats create an interesting contrast with the smooth ceramic base and lend the lamp a more decorative character. Klase Höganäs was associated with the work of Otto Klaesson, who, beginning in 1959, produced stoneware and utilitarian ceramics in Höganäs under the name Klase. Surviving lamps attributed to his studio are distinguished by their massive forms, glazes, and decorative surface treatments.
