Iris are fascinating flowers to observe. With their textures, their colors, their shapes, they have always been muses for painters. Monet and van gogh painted the most famous depictions of it. We know very little about this painting, except that it spent many years stored in an attic in lorraine. Is its author an amateur painter. (the signature may be under the frame...). The certainty we have is that this one lacked neither talent nor poetry. If he was clearly inspired by the 1928 painting "black iris" by max beckmann, he managed to capture the essence of these large, somewhat mysterious flowers, in a unique way. His mastery of colors is striking. The atmosphere he was able to create and the emotion it provokes reinforces us in the idea that this amateur painter was a true artist. The painting is in very good condition since it is framed and protected by a glass pane. Height: 37 cm. Width: 29 cm.
