Description
Elegant wooden doll made in japan by a kokeshi artist from the famous usaburo family. This handmade doll is a beautiful decorative object and will embellish any collection of kokeshi. Mr. Okamoto, the founder of usaburo kokeshi, was born in shintoism in 1917 and began making kokeshi in 1950. He invented new styles by introducing new manufacturing techniques. Charmed by the grain of keyaki wood and chestnut, he paid attention to these trees as new kokeshi materials, and enthusiastically studied the methods of making kokeshi from these materials. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the minister of international trade and industry award. The doll's smile is very pretty, the red leaves on her kimono are really realistic and the beige and green colors are very deep. Red stamp of the artist at the base. Size: 22 cm high by 7 cm at the base. Weight: 800 grams. Very good general condition, but as you can see in the photos, there are snags with stripes on his left eye and stripes in the black hair. Please look carefully at the photos (zoom in) to assess the condition of the doll. Do not hesitate to contact me, I would be happy to answer all your questions.
