Spindle-legged bedside table

Pretty bedside table with charming details that recall the rockabilly style, such as the small golden metal drawer handle and its tapered legs fitted with patinated golden metal pads. It is also quite practical with its drawer and the top space bordered on three sides: you can place several items there without the risk of them falling, I think of a glass of water falling on the floor at night, which is never pleasant! It could also serve as a small side table in an entrance or bathroom, or as an end table. It is very sturdy as it is made of solid wood, turned wood for the legs, varnished veneered wood in places, and wood covered with a veneer, ultra varnished or synthetic elsewhere. Indeed, aside from the drawer, whose sand-like visual veneer is surely a type of very smooth and shiny acrylic, the top and the inner sides of the top raise questions for me; I lean towards the same material as the drawer, a waterproof, durable, and ultra-smooth material, easily washable and here imitating the appearance of a beautifully grained wood, a shiny mahogany. This bedside table probably dates from the 1950s or 60s. It is in good overall condition, stable and solid, but it obviously shows some signs of its age: a small visible mark on the top and other smaller ones (tiny spots on the varnish) in the corners of the top, not very noticeable, marks from knocks on the bottom of one side, and a few stains in the bottom of the drawer. It measures 52 cm in width, 28 cm in depth, and a maximum height of 55 cm.
