Very nice early 19th century portrait of a young man dressed and coiffed in the fashion between 1795 and 1805, depending on whether it is an english painting - around 1795 - or a french one, slightly later - around 1800-1805. Sublime costume: high-collared shirt still of military influence buttoned with silver and the low-cut frock coat jacket with bonaparte collar in cherry-colored cloth, dark and delicate. And then the hair cut in the eagle style, the frank, amused and brilliant gaze, the curled eyelashes, the expression both serious and mischievous, noble and youthful. We know nothing about this painting but we can imagine the son of an english, french, or perhaps spanish family, settled in south america or the caribbean in the 18th century.
