Description
This murano glass bottle was made by archimede seguso in murano in the 1960s. It is shaped as a bearded collie and was designed for bischoff brandy to hold their cherry wine. This highly collectable piece is perfect to serve spirits or as a soliflore vase. The bottle is empty and is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. Height 28 cm. Archimede seguso (1909-1999) was one of the great muranese masters, who took traditional glassmaking techniques to extremes. Over the course of his life, he realised a series of glass sculptures representing feathered, scaled, and furry creatures. In the late 1950s he debuted with an array of alabastro figurals mimicking natural white alabaster, as well as the stone in delicious colors. The dog-shaped bottle is catalogued in the book ‘archimede seguso: mid-mod glass from murano: lace and stone’ by leslie piña (schiffer 2007).
