1960s Czechoslovak Rattan Magazine Rack with Tall Handle

A wonderfully sculptural 1960s magazine rack from Czechoslovakia, handmade from bent cane and rattan. Its two sweeping compartments are designed to hold magazines and newspapers, while the unusually tall handle gives the piece its distinctive silhouette. We particularly love the small details: circular bent-cane elements at each end and olive-green bindings wrapped around the joints by hand. Lightweight, practical and decorative, it works beautifully beside a sofa or reading chair. The designer and manufacturer are unknown. The rack remains in good vintage condition with an attractive natural patina and signs of age consistent with its history.
