Standing phonograph cabinet, Italian floor model, 1900s. Only the cabinet. Inside, a brass retailer label from Guido Marchi (located at Piazza Vittorio Emanuele 1, Florence), dating from the early 20th century (around 1900-1930) and Columbia Records granfonola. Opens to access the internal mechanisms. A small pair of upper doors opens to reveal the internal horn or acoustic louvers used for volume control. The interior shelf shows some defects on the wood surface (visible in the photos). A larger lower compartment door typically served as a storage area for record albums. Supported by four slender, curved legs, characteristic of the furniture design of the time. Polished mahogany wood case with distinctive brass hinges and winding/control holes. In good condition, consistent with its age and use. Measurements: Width 55 cm X depth 51 cm X height 118 cm. Made in Italy. Period: 1900s.
