Pair of 19th century Japanese orientalist wall lights

Rare pair of 2-light wall lights from the second half of the 19th century. The taste for the far east began around 1860. Europe discovered japanese culture during the universal exhibition of 1867. The fashion for japonism was at its peak with the universal exhibition of 1878. This pair of wall lights is a testimony of this time. The central part is decorated with the face of an old japanese man, he is bearded. The sconces are decorated with acanthus leaves and scrolls. Bronze construction. Original gilding, good condition (note, some stains on the sconces and cups, see photos). Electricity installed and tested, new wires. Wooden candles, good condition.
