I am offering for sale this iconic piece of vintage furniture, the CSS (Comprehensive Storage System) bookcase designed by the famous designer George Nelson for Herman Miller in 1957. This modular shelf, produced between 1959 and 1973, embodies the timeless elegance of the design of the mid-century. The CSS consists of three sturdy aluminum uprights that provide stable support. This unique shelving unit includes six versatile shelves, an integrated desk module, a module with three practical drawers, as well as a display module with backlit sliding doors, creating a functional and aesthetic centerpiece for your space. With its modular design, this CSS library can be customized to fit any room configuration. The uprights can be fixed to the floor and against the wall, providing great flexibility of use in any part of your home, whether in the living room, bedroom or office. Please note that the washer on one of the studs has been cut to allow for placement closer to the wall as shown in the photo. This in no way compromises the stability of the shelf. One of the shelves also has the mark of a burner, not visible if read up high. This CSS bookcase is much more than just a storage unit, it is a functional work of art that will bring a touch of retro elegance to your interior. Don't miss this opportunity to own a piece of design history with this CSS shelf by George Nelson for Herman Miller. A collector's item for design lovers. The library is dismantled.
