Cast iron fireback with the arms of the dolphin dimensions 72 height 68 width weight 60kilos this old cast iron fireback representing the arms of the dauphin of france. It is of french origin and in perfect condition. The dauphin of france is the eldest son of the king of france, the heir apparent to the crown. He has held the title of dauphin since humbert ii, dauphin of viennois, sold his lands of dauphiné to the king of france in 1349. Under a fleur-de-lis royal crown, a quartered coat of arms: on the 1st and 4th, three fleurs-de-lys (modern france ) and on the 2nd and 3rd, a crested dolphin, bearded, loré, skint and eared gules (viennois). Floral and plant motifs as well as a beautiful scrolled marquise highlight these coats of arms.
