Rare Sideboard, model C2-29, by Mart Stam for UMS Pastoe Netherlands 1948

Very rare sideboard, model C2-29, designed by architect and designer Mart Stam in 1948 for UMS Pastoe. Mart Stam tought at the Bauhaus and was very important for the development of Dutch Modernism. This sideboard was part of his 'Utility Furniture' series designed in 1948. This series was depicted in the very first edition of the 'Goed Wonen' magazine in 1948. See also the last picture. The 'Goed Wonen' foundation promoted the new modern way of home furnishing. It is a historic piece in the heritage of Dutch design. It is made of oak wood and has 5 drawers on the left and 2 doors with 2 shelves behind on the right. Clean and honest design, characteristic for the reconstruction period. We also have the very rare and matching dining set from the same series available if you want to make it all complete. The sideboard is in very good condition. The top and the sides have been refinished with preservation of authenticity.
