Althorp Estate Living History Library

We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare Thomas Chippendale bookcase, now discontinued, which is an exact authorised copy of a piece from the family home of Princess Diana, Althorp estate. It was part of the Living History collection, made by Theodore Alexander and marketed by Brights of Nettlebed. The bookcase is made of flame mahogany with glass shelves and spotlighting at the top activated by touch on one of the three hinges of the right door, each light having three brightness settings. The item is stamped Theodore Alexander on the locks, Brights of Nettlebed for the seller, and the right drawer bears what appears to be a pewter crest of the Althorp family inside. This bookcase disassembles into five easy-to-transport pieces: the base (one unit), three sections of the upper part, and the removable top cornice. The condition is exquisite with very few signs of wear, having been cherished since its acquisition. Dimensions: height 233 cm (the 11 cm brass urns on top are removable), width 167 cm, depth 50.5 cm.
