Dutch modern hanging lamp by Louis Kalff for Philips, 1950s

A truly eye-catching hanging lamp designed by louis kalff, manufactured by philips in the netherlands around 1950. This modern styled lamp is made of high quality metal. The top part is made of red lacquered metal with a few round perforations as a nice decorative touch. The black lacquered hood is completely raster perforated, which is a typical technique for mid-century dutch design! The white ring surrounding the hood nicely contrasts to the black colour and creates some harmony with the white cord that holds the lamp from the black ceiling rose. All together this is a really nice, unique find of dutch modernist lighting! It remains in good, vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.
