Édouard marcel sandoz (1881-1971) - fennec assis, the model created in 1921 publisher's stamp 'susse f. Edit. Paris' sandoz was particularly fond of fennecs and he never stopped representing them, in groups or individually. “the natural and frozen appearance [of this endearing animal] is remarkably rendered by the sculpture. » (f. Marcilhac, édouard marcel sandoz 1881-1971. Catalog raisonné of sculpted work, paris, 1993, p. 113). In the photos reproduced in félix marcilhac's catalog raisonné, we see sandoz posing with his large group of ten fennec foxes, or even modeling his live model seated on a harness: “as attentive as it is docile, the little desert fox lets himself be guided by sandoz to strike a pose (1922). » (f. Marcilhac, édouard marcel sandoz 1881-1971. Catalog raisonné of sculpted work, paris, 1993, p. 153).
