Curtain binder

Double filing cabinet or oak curtain cabinet, restored and restyled in a dynamic prairie green. Vintage trade furniture 50/60s essential administrative offices of the time. For optimal restoration, all of the following operations had to be performed: – complete dismantling of the three walls, the rear and the two curtains (take-off of the slats) – stripping of the old varnish with scraper (massive parts, panels and slats) – cleaning with soda lye and thinning with hydrogen peroxide (in several applications with rinsing between each) – repair of damaged pieces of wood (simple gluing or grooves) – each batten has been pickled, thinned, sanded and varnished before being glued back onto a new canvas. – the rear panels, top and skirting boards of the sides have been changed. – the high crosspieces of the curtains and locks have been replated with oak sheets to hide old traces of diy. – the rear low crossmember has been widened for more strength. – the grooves of the curtains have been restored to have an optimal sliding. – the handles and keyholes have been stripped and polished. – manual sanding of the whole with different grains of abrasive in order to blur or remove a maximum of defects. – the interior panels were covered with an undercoat (sanded) and then painted. – twenty-two shelves have been made of plywood and reinforced with two solid oak sleepers (so they will not veil and slide properly longer, the first serving as a grip and that of the bottom retaining the documents) – the furniture has been varnished in three layers with ginning of the first two. This binder has become fully functional again, the curtains and shelves slide perfectly, making the furniture usable easily.
