This hand-crafted round mosaic table with a captivating starburst pattern successfully fuses the structural honesty of brutalism with a more playful approach to mid-century modern design. Resting on a tripod of chromed legs and supported by a cross-shaped metal base, the mosaic top of this coffee table consists of coarsely cut white ceramic inlays of various lengths which have been arranged to form mesmerizing lines. While there are no maker's marks, this table hails from Germany in the 1970s where the acclaimed artists and mosaicists Berthold Müller and Heinz Lilienthal both produced ceramic mosaic tables to great international acclaim. This table is most reminiscent of their works. The table is in good condition with no tiles missing or chipped. The chrome on the legs is showing some signs of its age but has retained its shine. This would make a suitable pool-side or terrace table but it would also work very well as a lounge table adding a mid-century modern accent to its setting.
