The semi pendant is a unique design created by danish architects claus bonderup and torsten thorup in 1967 for the danish lighting manufacturer fog & mørup. Its distinctive arch-shaped, matte white painted aluminum shade creates a diffused, cone-shaped light directed downwards, making it ideal for use over a dining table or kitchen work surface. The inner surface of the shade is also white, which helps to reflect and diffuse the light. Bonderup and thorup aimed to create a lamp with sharp, clean lines and a geometric shape as a reaction against the softer, organic forms popular in the 1960s. Their design was submitted to a competition at the royal danish academy of fine arts, school of architecture, and won first prize. In the 1980s, the pendant achieved great success, becoming the best-selling danish design of its time and gaining worldwide recognition and iconic status. Thanks to its versatile design and popularity, fog & mørup semi pendant lamps were used as props in many tv series and movies, including ridley scott's all the money in the world. Despite the passage of time, this iconic piece is in perfect original vintage condition, with its authenticity confirmed by the fog & mørup stamp. These original pieces are highly sought after by collectors. The lamp requires one e27 bulb. Cord length: 135 cm.
