Pair of late 18th and early 19th century stained glass windows on the theme of the dance of death we offer you here 2 very beautiful old pieces from switzerland which represent the "totentanz". These stained glass windows depicting dance of death scenes are both intriguing and fascinating. The danse macabre is a step in the representation of death and a popular artistic motif both present in european folklore and elaborated in the late middle ages. In addition to their religious aspect, these stained glass windows are very beautiful decorative or collectible pieces. They really take on their full dimensions when exposed to a light source. It will therefore be wise to find a place of choice for them. Dimensions: height 28cm width 19cm depth 1cm the stained glass windows are quite well preserved. The frames appear to have been restored. There are color differences in the metal used to join the glass pieces. Look closely at the photos to note these small defects which remain very discreet once in situ. Small lack of glass on the blue glass, top left. Defects that are largely acceptable for pieces of this age. See photos if you wish to purchase only one stained glass window, please contact me.
